In such cases, you don't arrange for anything other than what look like the obvious necessities; only to regret not having planned properly later.
You must ideally start planning for your health tourism as soon as you decide to make it. However, if you've not done so, here's what you should do to make sure your plan for the health travel doesn't lose out on anything.
If you're already done with all the planning, this will serve as a checklist!
1. Google
Google out the place that you're planning to go to for your treatment. Make note of the local lifestyles, the food places, the weather and climatic conditions of the country/ state you are visiting. This will give you a fair idea of things you are going to need.
2. Get your Documents together
The next thing to do would be to get your papers in place. If you are travelling abroad, you will need your passport and a visa. However if you are looking for a domestic health trip, get the required proof ready. Make sure you have your documents ready before you book a ticket.
3. Collect your health history from your doctor
After booking your tickets, visit your doctor and collect from him your health and medication history, because this will give the new doctors a brief idea of your past treatments. Also, be sure to collect all your latest reports from your doctor, and have his advices noted down before you leave.
4. Talk to your insurance agent
In case you have insurance, check with your agent if the insurance will cover any of your treatment or travel expenses. Figure out the facts about your health travel insurance, this will prove financially useful.
5. Pack smart
If you are travelling to get treated, it is obvious that you will hardly have any time to run around and buy things if you leave them behind. Make a checklist of all the things you will need while you are travelling.
Make sure you don't pack too much of stuff, carrying around heavy baggage will always be a pain. Thus, make sure you pack just enough.
6. Arrange for communication
If you are going to a country, the local language of which you are unfamiliar with, make sure you arrange for a translator or stay in localities where you have a language in common. Communication gaps have led to many a tragedy, and you don't want to be involved in one!
